    Facebook and Google!

When we went to San Francisco this summer we had the pleasure of touring the Facebook Headquarters and the Downtown Google Campus. Our friend Peter is an application engineer at Facebook. He is so talented and smart. He really is enjoying Cali life and shared his workplace with us. Facebook is like Disney World. That is all it can be compared to that I am familiar with. When you enter there is a really long street in the middle that has buildings on all sides. Some have garage doors to let a little air in; you know in case your meeting gets a little stuffy! There are bicycles that you can grab and just bike from one end to the other. It was such an amazing place. Check out my photos!

They have kitchens in every building with fridges full of anything you could possibly want! I was overjoyed that they had Babybels!! Other items included packs of gum, Starbucks coffee drinks, red bulls, and chips of all kinds. It was paradise! They also had vending machines with mouses and keyboards and batteries. All free for employees!

They have treadmill desks!! Literally a desk that you can exercise at! I think this is brilliant!

This meeting room is called “Enders Game” based off an Orson Scott Card novel. I love how colorful the meeting rooms were.

There was Facebook art on all the walls and they had little lobbies with lounges for relaxing.

This is us in the central road/walkway. This runs down the middle with eateries and shopping! You can grab a bike and ride too. We did that and it was so fun!

We also traveled downtown to the Google campus! This is the view of the bay bridge from the patio.

Bragg Jam is an anual summer music festival that takes place in Macon Ga. It hosts a variety of bands all across venues downtown. Headliners include Dirty Govna’s and Noot’d Noot. It is such a fun event and I had the honor to create the logo.

  • Starting my Career at Razorfish!

    Starting my Career at Razorfish!

During my last week of school everything fell into place. I was really blessed to have recieved so much positive attention at Out to Launch. My hard work over the past 4 years had really payed off.  I met Andrea Gill at the event and she passed my name on to her team at Razorfish. I had several interviews and presented my work to a few different companies. I was still in the midst of finals when I received the call! I was ecstatic. I accepted the position as Associate Motion Designer at the Atlanta office of Razorfish.

After I told my family and friends they were excited but unsure. This did not help the butterflies I had fluttering inside me. I was so nervous to leave the comforts of my SCAD home and embark on the the path to my career. Then on graduation day came. The valedictorian, Stephany Gill, said in her speech that she chose a position at Razorfish as well. There was also Alejandra. The fact that my classmates chose this path as well was reassuring. I knew that everything would turn out for the best. There were so many positive things about the company.  It is so close to my apartment that I can walk if I want!

So I took a mini vaca to Savannah to chill with my childhood best friend, Aeriel Whitworth before I entered the real world and started my very firt “career” job. We chilled out on Tybee at the beach house her family rented.

Aeriel and I on Tybee! Been here a million times together.
We stayed at the Hodge Lodge! Was so nice to get away!

And it is like my career advisor Lynn Barett said, “You don’t apply to jobs; you are meeting people.” The “people” at Razorfish were awesome. I have since made friends with Andrea, Stephanie, and Alejandra. They are so sweet and are awesome designers.

So excited to be at Razorfish!
Daphne found her place on my desktop!
The kitchen always has something good! Muffins and chia tea…
    Hommade Strawberry Cupcake!
My SCAD bee cup and my “Queen Bee” paper weight that my sister, Katie, painted for me!
From the 11th floor the view is awesome!
Cow Appreciation Day with Jennifer and Alejandre.
Wagging our Cow Tails! No Pun Intended…

    And Lastly…

My favorite part of all! The room with the giant fishbowl! It is a huge screen for projects and presenting.

You can learn more about my company by visiting their website at: http://www.razorfish.com/
Or you can just add a comment and ask me!

  • AWARDED BEST OF SHOW!

    AWARDED BEST OF SHOW!

Out to Launch is an annual event that SCAD holds to showcase some of the best students in each major. It is a chance for them to show off their work to potential employers in a reverse career fair setting. Only seven students, including myself, were chosen from the Interactive Design and Game Development major.  It was a great privilege to represent ITGM at SCAD to the rest of the professional world.

I chose to display my demo reel with a projector to keep my monitor free for guests to demo my games and designs.  I also had on my table: cards for them to leave a message, smart phone to demo my mobile websites, givaways such as stickers, QR codes, business cards, and mints! I enjoyed showing off my work for an evening and had the pleasure of meeting many wonderful professionals in my field.  Below are the highlights from the event including the award of Best in Show in my major presented to me by Scot Safon the CMO of CNN. Enjoy!

This was my final set up! I drew people in with my large projected demo reel and then discussed each portfolio piece with them in detail.
PJ Johnson, The VP of SCAD Atlanta, enjoyed my presentation.

The following are pieces I have done recently. Enjoy!

The Grinch piece was for the Pure Imagination Charity event dinner and show.
Zach is amazing.  He always helps out with thw words.
This is us all covered in chalk after the Grinch piece.
Lathan and Brandon were thrilled to have their names written in chalk beside the Grinch.  Brandon was a patient at Chilren’s Healthcare of Atlanta.  Lathan helped make the dinner and show happen for him.
    I love The Grinch story!
    He is stealling a tree.
Can’t forget about his doggy Max!
I said in jest “Some people just don’t like having their self-portrait drawn.” about the person who complained…
I look aweful all covered in chalk… but I sure do love doing it!
This piece was to promote The Melting Pot’s 12 Days of Giveaways on their Facebook page. They are so giving!
Santa’s footprints led to the door. It read “It Pays to be a Follower”
I love how the hat and gift came out.
    Merry Christmas!

  • My First Week at Engauge!

    My First Week at Engauge!

Hello All! I have not written in a while, but I have not been slacking.  These first few weeks of summer have been filled with sending out endless applications and attending numerous interviews.  If anyone knows how long it can take to write a cover letter and rework your resume for each job’s specifications, it is me…  It is an all day affair and one that I usually ended up doing all night from working on moving and freelance projects during the day.

But alas I am proud to inform you all of my creative “entern” position at Engauge!!  I am so happy to have this opportunity and feel as though all the right doors are being opened to my future path. I could not have chosen a better internship to partake in. I have just finished my first week there and love it!

I love the atmosphere. I love what we do. I love the location. I love the projects. And I love all the people!

    About Engauge:

“Our name reflects our founding mission to engage consumers and gauge the results.”

Engauge is an interactive marketing and digital advertising agency.  There are locations in Atlanta, Austin, Columbus, Orlando and Pittsburgh.  They work on projects with companies such as Chick-fil-a, Coca-Cola, Home Depot, Food Lion, and Van Gogh Vodka… just to name a few.  I am super excited to be there and have the opportunity to play a small part in the whole.

    My Week at Engauge:

This week was in introduction to all the fun shenanigans for this summer.  For the first time I have been coming in and working a real nine to five job.  Although I have never realized how exhausting it is, I am definitely having to alter my day to day routine.

When you first come into the building through the revolving doors and you proceed up 22 flights, you enter the Engauge office and are engrossed with a 360 view of Atlanta below.  It is incredible and I find myself drawn to the large windows throughout the day….

The view across Piedmont Park towards Buckhead

If you are distracted by the reflection it is because I am taking the picture with my phone… but I will use this as an opportunity to point out the ping pong table in the room. We have a game room with an xbox kinnect as well.  I am anxious to have my turn at the ping pong…

After a tour we grouped into our departments and got busy.  I am so happy to be a part of the creative group.  I have two other enterns with me and we share projects such as PhotoShop work, picking photos, and editing other various documents.  It is really neat that the little bits of work that we do are compiled into the final projects for big companies.

This past Friday was Cow Appreciation Day for Chik-fil-a.  Everyone around the office got really into it and dressed as cows to get free Chik-fil-a.  I was filled with pride knowing that my company contributed in making it happen!  Explore their Chik-fil-a work.

After the workday was done I cut out spots and a cow nose and ears and took Zach to Chik-fil-a.  We received a whole free meal! The lady at our register said that on her register alone she gave away $500 in food! It is awesome to be working for a company that helps to give back to the community.

    With the BF getting Chik-fil-a

So my first week at Engauge was a success! I will keep you posted. Feel free to follow us on Twitter.
